What kind of world would you not want to live in?

Not long ago, while listening to the news, it occurred to me to ask myself: what kind of world would I find so abominable that I’d rather not live in it? What would it have to have for life not to be worth living?

However hard I tried, I couldn’t think of anything that wasn’t worth fighting for, or rather, against. Then I realized that it’s not what it has to have, but what it has to lack, that would make my life unlivable: a world without books. That’s the one world where I wouldn’t want to exist.

This blog is dedicated to all of you who wouldn’t want to live in it either.
